So you know that little chair I have been waffling on for a while? Well, today, I accidentally saw that it went on sale. And I accidentally bought it. Yes, I know: I bought the shoes, too. Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge word today was appropriately MONEY. Here is how I justified it:
- For some silly reason, deep down I believe that such a good bargain is sort of like it might as well be free.
- I have been wanting a chair in a spot in my bedroom for-like-ever, but could never pull the trigger. Here is me thinking about it back in the summer of ’10. That chair I used in that mood board hasn’t existed on that site for purchase since then. Sooo…
- I am afraid this chair will be discontinued soon, too.
So, there you have it. I am so terribly excited to see it in real life, and hope I love it as much as I do in the photos.
How do you justify home decor expenses? Is it just me that always feels guilt at the drop of any $ for my home – even though it brings me such comfort and happiness in the long haul?
Getting close to the finish line of Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge. Here are days 25, 26, & 27:
25 – GREEN: I have embarrassingly admitted several times before on this blog that I have an addiction to tortilla chips. Add a little guacamole – and I am one happy ex-Texan.
26 – NIGHT: A few fun moments playing together last night. We put together a city-wide veterinarian clinic using trains, legos, and cars. (Look closely and you can see me in the reflection.) 🙂
27- SOMETHING YOU ATE: My husband and I have been pretty detailed in our diet the last month or so, and even share a Google calendar of our meals and snacks. It really appeals to the organizer in me. I feel so much better when I stick to this list – snacks and all. (But will admit, I don’t always do this. See day 25.)
Here they are! Days 21-24 of Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge. (I think I can, I think I can…)
21 – A FAVE PHOTO OF YOU: This is funny – taking an old photo and then aging it in Instagram. I like the idea, but not really sure it worked in practice. Here’s a photo that brings about intense emotion for me. This is me and my Nan. I lost her last year, but I still don’t accept it.
22 – WHERE YOU WORK: I tried the desk shot, but it really says more to show you this image I snapped of the tote I carry to work each day.
23- YOUR SHOES: A while back, I asked you what I should blow $300 on: boots or a chair? Well, I chose the boots. They rock. Good decision. Still – way too much to pay for a pair of boots. (The chair was cheaper!)
24 – INSIDE YOUR BATHROOM CABINET: I almost skipped this one. SO personal. Also – do you REALLY want to see my toothbrush? In the end, I gave you a very cropped in shot. Then, when I started glancing at other folk’s images of this day, I saw that it was a tough one for a lot of people. But I also found it intensely voyeuristic and fun to look into their cabinets.
I am still going at Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge. Here are days 18 (a rare but much needed Friday night cocktail inspired by this word), 19 (I don’t really HATE the laundry monster – I just wish he didn’t come around EVERY weekend) , and 20 (girl knitting on the bus. What do you think the handwriting on her hand says? I couldn’t tell – but it looks rad.)
Do you ever have one of those days when you need a little retail therapy?? Of course you do, and so do I. Today is just one of those days. Luckily for me, the Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge words are “SOMETHING NEW”. Also lucky for me – one of my favorite Michigan Avenue boutiques: Veintiuno Siempre (perhaps called Forever 21 by you) offers fun and trendy little trinkets for under $10 that do the trick just nicely. I can’t stop loving on hot pink these days.
For Fat Mum Slim‘s photo a day challenge day 14 and 15 – the words were similarly simple: heart (a nod to Valentine’s day) and phone. So here we are: my son’s Valentine’s pizza (heart-shaped pizzas are big in Chicago on Valentine’s day, but this is the first one I have actually seen), and a shot of camera phone infinity – lasting almost as long as this photo a day challenge is starting to feel like. 🙂
